Rake and tournament fees are a common practice in every poker room, generally as a small commission collected by the operator of the game. When you're dealing with real money, these fees go towards maintaining operational costs of the game. On Replay Poker, since we're dealing with virtual currency, the chips are simply removed from circulation to help regulate the amount of chips that are currently in use on the site.
